Observation Drawing is drawing what you see in front of you.  You only need to focus on the object that you have selected to draw.

Basic drawing techniques:

1.  Directly face your object. (make sure it is in front of you)

2.  Study your object very closely for several minutes.  Look for details, light and dark areas, edges, line types, textures, shapes and relationships between shapes.

3.  Begin with light marks and you will not need to erase.

4.  After looking, hold a part of the object or detail in your memory and draw it on you paper. Look again for another part of the object to hold and draw. Compare your marks with the object and correct if needed.

Draw the overall shape and main features of your object.
